Weekly Saturday classes for four weeks introducing students to the fundamentals of Digital Audio Production and Recording. Topics covered include: Digital Audio Workstations, MIDI composition, plug in functionality, sound structure, microphone use and placement, mixing, mastering, as well as student’s individual interests.

Tuition: $140 ($120 BAC Members)

Media Arts:

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION I-Introduction to iMovie (Grades 4-8):

So you want to be a star!  With iMovie, it is as easy as 1-2-3.   1-develop your idea, 2-capture that idea using various digital media formats, and 3-using iMovie trailer, create a project that you can share with your family and friends…starring you!  In this course, you will learn how to operate a digital video recorder and camera, how to upload and edit your clips, how to do voice-overs, add music and/or sound effects, and create special effects that will enhance your final product.  You will also learn basic TV/studio terminology that will help you to develop your script and storyboard, and other skills that will help turn your movie into a mini masterpiece.

Tuition:   $150  (BAC Members $140)

Acting for Film and Stage

The Actor’s Gym (Ages 18+ -will consider younger on a case-by-case):

Students will present scenes in class. Rehearsal will be arranged between scene partners and rehearsed outside of class time. Focus will be on understanding and implementing: emotional preparation, character’s objective, beats, arcs, emotional models and eventually self-direction. Along with the scenes themselves, students will develop a mastery of blocking, uses of props, delivery, and costuming with emphasis toward film. Scene Study – ongoing –

Actor’s Gym Jr. (Ages 13-17yrs-will consider younger on a case-by-case):

Students will present scenes in class. While presented material will be appropriate for the ages of the students, the preparation and commitment will be the same as the adult class. The material will reflect the industry (Disney, Nickelodeon, ABC family, etc.) But the skill set remains the same. Rehearsal will be arranged between scene partners and rehearsed outside of class time. Focus will be on understanding and implementing: emotional preparation, character’s objective, beats, arcs, emotional models and eventually self-direction. Along with the scenes themselves, students will develop a mastery of blocking, uses of props, delivery, and costuming with emphasis toward film (Scene Study monthly).

The Actor’s Gym Intensive (Ages 8-12 with adult 13+):

Saturday will focus from a Producer’s view on set etiquette, SAG requirements and qualifications, Labor requirements for under 18. Who does what on a set. What we need you to know and why. Head shots and resume’s will be discussed and evaluated as well. Audition protocols for both theatrical and commercial and what you can expect. End of class Saturday, each participant will be given an audition piece that they will audition with on Sunday. Sunday will be a quick review of audition protocols and then each student will audition, receive adjustments and audition again.

Tuition: $75 (BAC Members $65)

1 weekend a month – Saturday 9-Noon & Sunday 12pm-3pm

Sword and Staff Stage Combat Workshop 12-Adult:

This is an in depth course detailing how to choreograph fight scenes using sword and staff weapons from around the world. Workshop will include proper stances/proper handling of weapons, brief history of the weapons and their respective cultures, and how to safely conduct a fight scene with multiple people. All skill levels welcome, theatrical and/or martial arts backgrounds not required. Students are advised to wear clothing suitable for movement.

Tuition: $25, BAC Member $20

Hand to Hand Stage Combat Workshop 12-Adult:

This is an in depth course detailing how to choreograph fight scenes using unarmed combat techniques including, boxing, throws, grappling, and slapstick. Workshop will include proper stances and posture, brief history of fighting styles and their respective cultures, and how to safely conduct a fight scene with multiple people. All skill levels welcome, theatrical and/ or martial arts backgrounds not required. Students are advised to wear clothing suitable for movement.

Tuition: $25, BAC Member $20

May 3

Advanced Stage Combat Workshop 12-Adult:

This workshop is for those looking to get a more in depth chance to choreograph fight scenes. Fight scene elements will be able to include swords, staffs, and unarmed combat techniques. Students will choreograph a fight scene which will include a basic story structure (Conflict and Resolution), use of the environment, and changes between fighting styles. This class is for students with previous martial arts or stage combat experience.

Tuition: General Tuition: $25, BAC Member $20

June 7

Become a Legend, Greece-Afterschool Classes (Ages 12-18):

Students will get the chance to learn about and act out various legends and myths from Greece, culminating in the class writing and performing a play based on Greek mythology. Students will obtain hands on experience in basic stage directions, story writing, acting, and cultural relevancies of morals and lessons in storytelling. Family Sharing Night, Friday May 9th 6:00 PM

Sewing with a Machine (Ages 8-Adult):

Let’s have fun as we learn the basics with three projects. Basic machine sewing is a useful skill, quick hems and repairs will be easy since you will be comfortable with a sewing machine after the first class session. All materials are your responsibility, for first class please bring a half yard printed cotton material, washed and dried and 2 yards white cord or color to match.

If you do not have a machine contact Darla (dbayer@bactv.org or 830-7939). We have two available or she will give you recommendations if you plan to purchase one.
